According to the Associated Press, on Sunday, October 5, 2008, a bus filled with senior citizens crashed killing eight people and injuring many more. The charter bus was headed to Colusa Casino Resort. The bus was charted by the casino to carry visitors to the casino. The driver of the bus was arrested for DUI or Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol or Drugs. Further, the driver did not have the correct license to transport passengers. The bus did not have a valid license plate.

When passengers load onto a bus they place their safety and lives in the hands of the bus driver and the bus company. That bus company is required to make a complete check of the driver's qualifications. It is inexcusable for a bus company to allow an unlicensed driver to operate a bus! Bus and trucking companies should be held legally responsible for their negligence in hiring and keeping or retaining bad drivers that kill and injure passengers.

In my practice, nothing has given me more satisfaction than feeling like my client's lawsuit helped change ta trucking company or bus company to make the raodway safer. It has been my privelege to prosecute claims and lawsuits against bad truck and bus drivers and their employers for many years. Here at The HART LAW FIRM, we are zealous in our pursuit of claims against drunk or impaired drivers, automobiles or commercial motor vehicles (trucks and buses). We seek compensation for injuries and death caused by the negligence of bus and truck drivers and the trucking company or bus company.
